With the Spring 18 Couture Collections having just wrapped, one of our favourite trends to emerge was the ethereal fantasy and soft glamour of feathers floating down so many runways. From the dramatic and spectacular to the barely there and super delicate, Spring was in full flight.
As an edgy addition or inclusion in your wedding day outfit, maybe as part of your dress or as a keep forever (wear again!) accessory, feathers transcend Spring and work just as beautifully for a Winter or Autumn celebration. A capelet being the perfect addition for you portrait session or a spectacular second look, to reveal on the day.
Below were some of our highlights and favourite ideas (worth stealing) for your own day…
A feathered clutch (see our favourite Elie Saab offering in the gallery) is the toe-dipping of this trend, for just a hint glamour and unexpected style. Take out later on special occasions and remember the magic of the day.
Across the shoulders
A feathered cape is a stunning addition to any outfit (your bridal party included) and offers the perfect added layer when stepping outside in cooler months (maybe during an outdoor ceremony or portrait session). Some of our highlights included Christophe Josse paired with dramatic oversized gold earrings along with the delicate plumes seen at Elie Saab, framing faces in tints anything but white.
Ostrich feathers make a regular appearance in Couture gracing hemlines, cuffs and entire dresses, lending gowns an almost Narnia like ethereal magic. Some favourites from the Spring season included a Celia Kritharioti gown (where feathers were mixed with white lace and a black belted ribbon, for an unexpected twist) as well as a Zuhair Murad navel skimming V-neck embellished jumpsuit – not for the traditionalists but an unexpected highlight – or perfect second look!
